In this project I was playfully observing nature and Eco-therapy, which is the name given to a wide range of treatment programmes which aim to improve your mental and physical wellbeing through immersing oneself in nature. I began by observing Kelvingrove park in the West End of Glasgow, and the key part the park played for the local community and the benefits to a healthy body and mind. When I came across a study which claimed simply seeing images of nature on the wall in often hostile and bland spaces such as offices, can elicit serotonin in the brain (the happy hormone) I decided to create my own versions of nature, emphasising and changing the texture, colour and form in a playful way to try and create some exciting imagery. I went on to make an animation as seen below, overlaying sound pieces from nature, and discussion about nature and ecotherapy.
